VFI Installs #0031, 0032, 0033, 0034, 0035, 0036, 0037, 0038 Veterans Day Special

Rounds complete on install #0031 and what an honor. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Ed Spangenburg in Monroe. Corporal Ed Spangenburg is an 11 1/2 year veteran of the Army National Guard with a split service period ranging from 1991 to 2004. During his time in service he deployed to Iraq in 2003 where he served as a 91B medic working at the prison in Abu Ghraib.

We thank Ed for his service and sacrifice for our country!


Rounds complete on install #0032 and what an honor. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Jenni Olson in Marengo. Jenni served from 1996 to 2001 in active duty with the Air Force. in 2002 she transitioned to the Army National Guard until 2007 completing her service to our country with two deployments as well. Currently, Jenni is the Iowa County VA representative and she wanted us to let everyone know that if you served, make sure you talk with your county VA representative about any benefits you may be entitled to. You can generally find your VA representative's at the courthouse or in adjacent buildings to the courthouse.

Rounds complete on install #0033 and what an honor to meet this service member. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Joe Clay in Boone. Joe was in the Iowa Army National Guard from 2009-2017.

Rounds complete on install #0034 and what an honor. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Howard Brandt in Hampton. Howard served in the Army during the "cold" Korean War, a conflict that does not register on many peoples radar when American conflicts are talked about. None the less, we have people like Howard to thank during these tense times of our country for holding the line and not bending to the face of potential war.

Rounds complete on install #0035 and what an honor to meet this man. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Lain Slife in Albion. Lain served from 2005-2013 with the Army as a 31B, military police officer. While deployed to Iraq, he was stationed at the government center in Ramadi.

We thank Lain for his service and sacrifice for our country!

Rounds complete on install #0036 and what an honor it was to put a pole in for this veteran. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Robert Brennan in Deep River. Private First Class Robert Brennan served in the Marine Corps from early 1957 to late 1958. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego California during his term of service

Rounds complete on install #0037 and what an honor to meet this veteran, and the other service members in his family. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Jathan Chicoine in Story City. Also present for the install were his brother Sean and father Ken. All three men served in the Navy. Sean is a nurse with the VA and Jathan is currently a Program Manager for Home Base Iowa which helps veterans and their spouses find careers after they have transitioned out of the military. Jathan and his father both served for six years in the Navy, Sean served four.

Rounds complete on install #0038 and what an honor. The VFI crew installed a flagpole on Veterans Day for Blake Owens in Eldora. As you can see, the install was a family affair for the Owens'. Specialist Owens served in Army. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia in 2000 as part of Desert Spring. We thank Blake for his service and sacrifice for our country!
